We are proud to offer a heavy duty bolt on skid plate solution for the Jeep Wrangler TJ 1997-2006. This skid plate is a direct bolt on replacement for the thin flimsy sheet metal skid plate that is easily damaged while on the trail. The 1/4" steel construction of this skid plate provides the rigidity and strength needed for even the toughest of offroad conditions. Ground clearance will be increased up to 1" depending on year model. Installation time is about 2 hours, all hardware is included, and the skid will bolt onto any Jeep Wrangler TJ 1997-2006 4 cyl, 6 cyl, automatic or manual transmission. This skid will raise the transmission mount up to 1", some transfer case linkage adjustments may be required. On Jeeps with over a 2 inch suspension lift height, a slip yoke eliminator is recommended to avoid drive line vibrations. Rubicon models will require relocation of the locker air compressor. The additional OEM automatic transmission pan skid plate on 2003-2006 Rubicon models is not compatible with this skid plate. This skid plate will ship bare, and need to be painted or powder coated before installation.

What a fantastic addition to my build. This skid plate is a great bolt on replacement that provided me with an additional 1-2.5" of clearance (depending on where I'm measuring from). The 1/4" thickness will best protect my transmission and transfer case while on the trails, certainly much better than the weak stock skid that so easily dented and caught on rocks. It was a straightforward installation process and it looks fantastic on my TJ. Wonderful first expereince with Barnes 4wd, I will be coming back for more!
Nice and heavy bolted right in
All I did was paint it put the trans mount in and bolt it up haven't had it caught on any rocks yet but my bet is it won't let me down when it does happen
Great value solution to improve some clearance on my 03 and added strength. Paired up nicely with a UCF engine skid.
At first I thought this thing wasn't going to fit; even called someone on the phone to discuss what was going on. Discovered my old one was so far gone, that this skid plate was a huge improvement, not only in how the vehicle looks, but how it functions. I did add some spacers between the frame and skid plate to keep water from getting trapped (and creating the rust I just got rid of).
